100 years of Siemens ovens - Crafting intelligent innovations since 1926

Munich, Germany – For a century, Siemens has been shaping the way we cook and live at home. In 2026, the brand celebrates 100 years of oven innovation – a journey that began in 1926 with the People’s Cooker, a pioneering invention that transformed kitchens and redefined everyday cooking. This milestone reflects Siemens’ commitment to innovation and progress, while setting the stage for the future of home cooking.

A century of visionary progress

Since its founding in 1847, Siemens has stood for inventive spirit, openness, and a deep understanding of people’s needs. As electricity spread into German homes in the 1920s, Siemens recognized an opportunity to make daily life easier and safer. In 1926, the company introduced the People’s Cooker, featuring the first “baking tube” – a tube with a heating coil. For the first time, families could prepare their Sunday roast electrically, without wood or coal. This marked the birth of Siemens ovens and the beginning of a new era in home cooking.

Over the decades, Siemens has continued to set benchmarks in technology and design. In 1935, the first ovens with automatic temperature controls gave users the confidence to bake and roast with precision. Just a year later, Siemens unveiled a cooker that combined electric and coal heating – a smart solution, offering both efficient cooking and comforting warmth.

When Siemens launched the first-ever universal built-in cooker in 1962, it marked a milestone in the evolution of the modern kitchen. Designed for seamless integration, it shaped how people design and experience their cooking spaces today. The revolutionary pyrolytic self-cleaning function, introduced in the 1970s, made oven care effortless and efficient. The 1980s and 1990s marked a significant evolution in kitchen technology, driven by Siemens’ ambition to combine intelligent technology with remarkable design. Built-in appliances, intuitive user interfaces, and multifunctional solutions became cornerstones of the modern kitchen. Among these, the launch of Europe’s first compact combination of microwave and conventional oven in 1984 once again set new standards – reducing cooking times by 71 per cent and energy use by half, while embodying the brand’s vision of intelligent efficiency and sophisticated design.

Today, Siemens offers a full spectrum of oven solutions – from full steam ovens and steam cookers to models with integrated steam functions. Since 2014, the addition of Home Connect has allowed users to control their oven remotely, access recipes, and save their favorite settings for effortless cooking. In 2022, the AI-powered iQ700 oven with integrated cameras recognizes what’s being cooked and recommends optimal settings – supporting culinary ambitions with intelligent assistance.

“This centenary is a testament to the Siemens brand promise: to drive progress that enriches people’s lives. From the first ‘baking tube’ to today’s AI-powered ovens, we have always combined visionary engineering with a deep understanding of what enthusiastic cooks truly desire. As we look to the next 100 years, our commitment remains unwavering: to craft intelligent, inspiring solutions that empower culinary creativity and shape the future of the connected home,” says Klaus Karl, Siemens Brand Owner.

Innovative design and visionary engineering

For generations, Siemens ovens have been a trusted partner in millions of households, standing for intelligent technology, remarkable design, and meaningful innovations that inspire and engage. Each appliance reflects a century-long dialogue between visionary engineers and ambitious cooks – from the earliest baking tubes to today’s connected smart ovens enhanced by artificial intelligence. Clean lines, intuitive controls and enduring materials embody Siemens’ commitment to both form and function, empowering users to explore new culinary horizons. As Siemens steps into the next century of oven evolution, the mission remains clear: to push boundaries, ask bold questions, and craft intelligent innovations that shape the future of cooking – making life at home more enjoyable, connected, and inspiring.
