Siemens iQ700

Press release -

Automated cooking with AI - The iQ700 oven from Siemens Home Appliances uses artificial intelligence to recognize dishes and handles the cooking process.

Munich, Germany – Whether baking bread, pizza, lasagna, chicken, popcorn, or rice: In all these cases, the iQ700 oven from Siemens no longer needs to be operated manually. Simply place the dish inside, and the appliance automatically selects the appropriate program using AI. This is already possible in 80 different scenarios. This means that the range of dish recognition capabilities has doubled compared to last year. In addition, this premium appliance features numerous other assistance systems, including the AI-powered browning sensor.

More and more people no longer want to worry about the proper operation of advanced technology. This is the conclusion of a recent trend report by the research institute The Future:Project, commissioned by Siemens Home Appliances. According to the report, tolerance for frustration with devices that aren’t user-friendly is currently very low. As barrier-free user interfaces consequently become a key competitive factor, the iQ700 oven’s dish recognition feature strikes a chord with the times. Because here, the motto is: Put the food in the oven, close the door, and you’re good to go!

Who’s cooking? The AI!

To simplify oven operation, Siemens combines a built-in oven camera with artificial intelligence. Together, they can distinguish between 80 dishes and applications. For example, the device automatically detects whether the oven is empty, contains plates for reheating, or has food inside. It understands whether it’s dealing with slices of pumpkin or eggplant, fish fillets, or a roast. It also reliably identifies whether yeast dough needs to rise, a casserole is being prepared, or bread is being baked. This makes cooking easier than ever: Users no longer need to worry about which of the many heating modes and additional options will lead to the perfect result. Instead, they can simply let the oven choose the program and temperature, which may even switch on steam, grill, or microwave at the right moment—depending on whether the dish needs to be extra crispy or ready quickly.

Browning to Taste

Even when cooks select the program themselves, they can rely on the smart oven for assistance. For example, if they want to prepare pizza, lasagna, or rolls, they can tell the browning sensor in advance how crispy and brown they want the result to be. They specify their preference on a scale from 1 to 5. The sensor, oven camera, and AI then ensure the best possible result for their specific needs. Having to keep checking the oven toward the end of the baking or roasting time is now a thing of the past. Those who still want to do so can check via the Siemens Home Appliances app on their phone while relaxing on the sofa. The integrated oven camera provides real-time images from inside the oven at any time. In addition, the Siemens Home Appliances app allows for remote control of the appliance, including via voice command when paired with a smart speaker.

Simple Beauty

The simplicity of operation is reflected in the understated elegance of the design: smooth, dark glass surfaces create a serene atmosphere, unbroken by any buttons or knobs. All programs and options are controlled via a spacious TFT full-touch display, which uses images to provide access to the oven’s full range of functions. But not everything is electronic: since most kitchen buyers want to be able to continue opening the door by hand, the appliance features a black glass handle. Thanks to the sophistication of the design, this handle blends seamlessly with the background of the same color. As a result, the oven appears handle-free and blends discreetly into a modern setting.
