Award-winning design since 1959: Siemens Matt Edition shines at Design Awards – Adding to a legacy of design honours

  • Appliances from the Siemens Matt Edition have won 8 Design Awards so far in 2026
  • The awards add to more than 500 international design accolades since 1959

Munich, Germany – Siemens Home Appliances' iQ700 studioLine Matt Edition has made its mark on the international design stage, claiming recognition at three of the industry's most prestigious competitions in 2026. The wins reflect what the collection stands for: a matte, velvet-like surface that brings warmth and tactile quality to the kitchen — and a design language clear enough to speak for itself.

The Matt Edition takes centre stage
The iQ700 studioLine Matt Edition earned recognition across all three major 2026 design competitions. At the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026, the cooker hood and the ovens secured one of the world's most coveted design honours. The same appliances were singled out at the iF Design Award 2026, along with the venting cooktop from the same product line. The German Design Award 2026 adds to this triumph with further honours for the oven range, the hob, the warming drawer as well as the built-in coffee machine.

A new expression of kitchen design
Three competitions. Three verdicts. The same conclusion: the Matt Edition sets a new standard for kitchen aesthetics. Its matte surface introduces a softer, more tactile presence to the kitchen — velvet-like to the touch, warm in character, and clearly distinct from the polished steel conventions that have shaped built-in appliances for decades. In addition, the Matt Edition speaks directly to the growing preference for matte surfaces in kitchen furniture, responding to a wider shift in modern living. Kitchens are becoming part of the living space, and appliances are adapting to the matte finishes of contemporary kitchen fronts. They are integrated, shown, and celebrated as part of a sophisticated interior.

More than 500 design awards – and counting
The Matt Edition was not the only Siemens collection to impress juries in 2026. Three other appliances won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026: the iQ700 Induction Cooktop, the iQ300 Fully-integrated Dishwasher and the Side-by-Side Fridge-Freezer. The German Design Award honoured two further products: the iQ700 Heat Pump Dryer and the iQ500 Washer.

These latest wins are not isolated moments. Since 1959, Siemens Home Appliances has accumulated over 500 international design honours, including 14 awards this year alone — a track record that reflects a clear ambition: to create home appliances that combine sophisticated design with intelligent solutions that support people in their everyday lives.

At Siemens, design does not begin at the surface. Cross-disciplinary workshops and prototype cycles bring designers and engineers together from the earliest development stages – creating space for solutions that neither discipline would reach alone. This manifests in the Siemens credo “Intelligence that delights” where innovative technology merges with smart and intuitive operation in a progressive design which perfectly integrates into the modern kitchen environment.

Together, these design award wins confirm that 2026 is shaping up to be one of Siemens’ strongest years on the international design stage – and that the Matt Edition is leading the way.
