SIGRID Therapeutics today announced the U.S. launch of Carb Fence™, a new medical food powered by patented SiPore® technology and designed to help reduce the negative impact of modern meals.

Carb Fence™ was developed to help the body handle modern meals at a slower, steadier pace by slowing how quickly carbohydrates and fats are broken down during digestion.

By delivering energy from meals more gradually, Carb Fence™ helps people feel fuller for longer, reduce cravings and snacking, maintain steadier energy levels throughout the day, avoid post-meal energy dips, and reduce caloric uptake from meals. Carb Fence™ is powered by SiPore®, a patented silica technology with precisely engineered pores that temporarily entrap digestive enzymes involved in breaking down carbohydrates and fats, acting locally in the gut during digestion rather than systemically throughout the body.

Carb Fence™ comes in single-use sachets containing 3 grams of SiPore® and is intended to be taken with meals, up to three times daily, for a total of 9 grams per day.

This is the same daily dose evaluated in the SHINE clinical study, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in overweight or obese individuals with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. In SHINE, participants experienced reductions in long-term blood sugar levels HbA1c(A1C), body weight, and visceral fat, while preserving lean muscle mass.

SiPore® has demonstrated a strong safety and tolerability profile across SIGRID's clinical program. The material acts locally in the gut, does not enter the bloodstream, and is naturally excreted.
