SIGRID Therapeutics Launches Carb Fence™, Its Flagship Gut-Local Medical Food, in the United States

First commercial launch of the clinically evaluated 9 g SiPore® protocol following multiple clinical studies

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 13, 2026 — SIGRID Therapeutics today announced the U.S. launch of Carb Fence™, the company’s flagship medical food powered by patented SiPore® technology.

The launch represents a major commercialization milestone for SIGRID and the first market introduction of the clinically evaluated 9 g daily SiPore® protocol following more than 15 years of scientific development and clinical studies, including the SHINE study, one of the largest randomized controlled studies of its kind.

The United States is the first market globally where Carb Fence™ will be commercially available. In parallel, SIGRID is actively advancing the regulatory assessment of its SiPore® technology at the full clinical dose in the European Union and other international markets.

Carb Fence™ is intended for the dietary management of impaired carbohydrate metabolism. It was developed to address a growing gap in metabolic health between lifestyle-only approaches and systemic pharmaceutical therapies, reflecting growing demand for practical meal-level solutions that can integrate into everyday life.

The company believes metabolic health is entering a new phase where consumers, clinicians, and healthcare systems are increasingly looking for non-systemic approaches that can complement lifestyle interventions and pharmaceutical therapies (like the GLP-1s). SIGRID believes meal-level modulation may emerge as an important new category within long-term metabolic health management and complementary metabolic care.

Carb Fence™ was developed to help reduce the metabolic impact of modern meals by working locally in the gut during digestion.

The product is powered by SiPore®, a patented silica technology with precisely engineered pores designed to temporarily entrap digestive enzymes involved in the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats. By modulating digestion locally in the gastrointestinal tract, SiPore® is designed to slow nutrient breakdown and support steadier post-meal metabolic responses.

Carb Fence™ comes in single-use sachets containing 3 grams of SiPore® and is intended to be taken with meals, up to three times daily, for a total of 9 grams per day.

This is the same daily dose evaluated in the SHINE clinical study, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in overweight or obese individuals with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. In SHINE, participants experienced reductions in long-term blood sugar levels HbA1c(A1C), body weight, and visceral fat, while preserving lean muscle mass.

Across SIGRID’s clinical program, SiPore® has demonstrated a strong safety and tolerability profile. No serious product-related adverse events were reported in the SHINE study.
