Johan Dasht is appointed the new managing director of SKB

Johan Dasht will take over as the new managing director of the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co, SKB, on 1 March 2020. Most recently, he has held the role of managing director of OKG Aktiebolag.

Johan Dasht has many years of experience of management in the nuclear power industry, operation of nuclear facilities and collaboration with municipalities and society. In 2020, SKB could obtain the Government’s approval for the Final Repository for Spent Nuclear Fuel as well as for an extended final repository for low-level and intermediate-level waste in Forsmark.

– SKB’s important task involves operation, development and, hopefully, soon also construction of large projects such as the Spent Fuel Repository, the encapsulation plant and the extension of the Final Repository for Short-lived Radioactive Waste. I am very much looking forward to working at SKB in this exiting phase, says Johan Dasht.

SKB, with 600 employees and facilities at several locations, is leading the work on final disposal of the Swedish spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. The company’s current managing director Eva Halldén will retire at the end of February 2020.

– I welcome Johan as the managing director of SKB. Johan has a broad perspective on nuclear issues and comes to SKB at a crucial time in the development of its activities, says Torbjörn Wahlborg, Chairman of the Board of SKB.

Our task is to deal with all the radioactive waste from nuclear power plants in Sweden. In doing so we must meet the most stringent requirements regarding the safety of human beings and the environment. This task is so extensive that we view it as Sweden's largest environmental protection project.
