Consumers Turn To The Power Of A Plant-Based Diet In Their Food Choices
Plant-based diets have been rising in popularity over the last five years as consumers understand the benefits of following a meat free diet as it is full of fibre, high in vitamins and good for the digestion. Throughout the COVID pandemic, the demand for plant-based products has grown even stronger.
The Swedish based company Sproud has launched in Europe and has now accelerated launch plans into the USA and Canada, as consumers all over the globe look for plant-based alternatives to milk. The Sproud range of dairy free alternatives can be kept in cupboards and with no need to be stored in the fridge, demand has intensified as consumers look for alternatives to their usual shopping list that can be stored for longer without the need to be chilled.
Sproud is the next level of plant-based products bringing taste and sustainability together. With a natural creamy texture and neutral taste, the planet-first family of products provides a range of dairy-free alternatives with the closest taste to regular milk.
Powered by peas and developed in Sweden, Sproud has one mission: to be the best tasting non-dairy milk.
The company uses the power of the yellow split pea to provide a blast of nutrition for drinkers looking to improve their diet. The yellow split pea is the basis for all its milk alternatives providing a low sugar protein boost with a third of the saturated fat and 50% more calcium than cow’s milk.
Sproud’s founder and Head of Brand, Maria Tegman commented:
“Consumer knowledge is increasing and there has been a surge in plant-based products as people look to manage their wellbeing during these tough times. The trend for plant-based food is growing year on year and the current COVID pandemic has meant that people have looked for alternative products. And, of course there is the added benefit that living a more sustainable lifestyle means we can all do our part to help the planet.”
Sproud is owned and created by staff at the Swedish-based company WeMake. The Sproud founders have a shared passion for the split pea discovered after decades of working in innovative environmentally friendly food and drink sectors. As a small group of entrepreneurs they wanted to make a difference, they wanted to create something that was good for both people and Mother Nature. Sproud make foods and proteins that are nutritious, healthy and delicious. Sproud is more than dairy-free alternative, it’s more than sustainability and taste coming together; it’s a family of people passionate about doing things better, about coming together to create great products with a minimal climate footprint.
