6 essential things to pack for Fashion Week

Fashion Week season is officially here and the big four events are around the corner; New York, London, Milan, and Paris. If you are making the voyage this year, it’s time to start packing your suitcase. Here are some things to consider in order to keep your suitcase light and your clothes fresh.

Pre-planned outfits
The easiest way to avoid overpacking is to plan most of your outfits ahead of time. When you pack your suitcase at the last minute, it can be so tempting to throw in too many statement pieces that won’t go well together. Instead, we recommend packing a handful of complete outfits that you are ready to wear, along with your classic basics that will go with any outfit.

Travel-friendly garment steamer
Regardless of how perfectly packed your suitcase is, your garments will likely get wrinkled and creased from the trip. Let the steamer be your saving grace in this situation. It will instantly help your best outfits live up to their true potential. Steaming is ideal for all kinds of textiles, but especially helpful for fine, natural textiles that are extra prone to wrinkling, like silk or linen.

A steamer uses steam to smooth out wrinkles and creases and requires no ironing board. The hot steam makes the garment look fresh and unused, while also reducing bacteria and unwanted odors. The best part? Handheld steamers are small enough to fit comfortably in your suitcase.

Textile spray for quick touch-ups
Sometimes, all you need is a quick touch-up to refresh your garments. Steamery’s travel-sized Fabric Spray in a 100 ml bottle is perfect to bring when you need to wear the same clothes for days without doing laundry. It’s a quick and easy way to give your clothes that clean laundry feeling without actually washing them. Spray it directly on your garments and enjoy the fresh scent of rose and musk.

Reusable roller for dust and lint
Lint, dust, and hair can really ruin the appearance of an outfit. And sure, the old disposable tape rollers are effective at removing superficial lint, but the downside is that they tend to leave a sticky residue on the fabric, which in turn attracts new lint. Instead, we recommend bringing a reusable lint roller to fashion week. A few sweeps with Steamery’s Lint Brush will be enough to spruce up your outfit again.

Travel sachet of laundry detergent
In case the inevitable happens and you spill red wine or tomato sauce on your silk top, we recommend bringing small packets of laundry detergent for easy hand washing in the hotel sink. Steamery’s 20 ml Delicate Laundry Detergent sachets are perfect for washing clothes while traveling. It’s gentle and suitable for the most delicate fabrics and will leave your garments with a lovely scent of rose and musk.

Comfortable shoes
Last but not least, remember to give those battered feet a break between shows. Include at least one pair of comfortable travel shoes and allow yourself some relief from the high heels and platforms. Bring a pair of boots, sneakers, or sandals that are kind to your feet, and rock them with pride. Bonus: If you wear your comfy shoes while traveling, there is no need to allocate space for them in your suitcase.
