How to care for your home textiles
We've gathered our best tips on how to easily care for the most common home textiles—cotton, silk, and velvet. Caring for your home textiles is as important as caring for your clothes. In this article, we share practical tips to clean, refresh and care for your home textiles in the best way.
Cotton
Cotton is a durable material used in many home textiles – usually for cushion covers, napkins and bed linen. When washing your cotton textiles, always follow the care instructions on the label. Cotton can can withstand high temperatures. However, to preserve its color and shape, it's advisable to wash cotton textiles at lower temperatures. To preserve colors and the textile fibers, use Signature Laundry Detergent. When washing white textiles, we recommend using White Laundry Detergent.
Air drying after washing is the best way reduce the risk of shrinkage. If you using a tumble dryer, we recommend that you choose a low temperature to be as gentle as possible. If a cotton garment has shrunk, you can use the Cirrus 3 Iron Steamer to restore the fabric to its original shape. To freshen up cotton items between washes, steaming is an excellent method since it removes wrinkles, kills bacteria, and eliminates odors.
Silk
Silk is a delicate fabric that requires gentle care when washing. We recommend washing silk textiles by hand or use a gentle cycle on the washing machine at 30 °C. Use Delicate Laundry Detergent, which is specially formulated for silk and other delicate materials. Avoid fabric softener, as it can damage the fibers. We recommend that you air dry silk textiles, as heat from tumble drying can be harmful to delicate fabrics. Once the textiles have dried, we recommend using the Cirrus 3 Iron Steamer to gently smooth out creases and restore the fabric's natural luster. It is gentle on silk and leaves no marks.
Velvet
Velvet adds a luxurious touch to any room but can be challenging to maintain. With some proper care velvet can maintain its luster and structure. To gently clean and remove dust and lint from velvet (and other textiles), we recommend using a Lint Brush. Since it's not using tape, it leaves no adhesive residue which in many cases can lead to textiles attracting even more dust and lint. Plus, it's reusable, just turn the handle to clean the brush and empty the content by pressing the lid.

Sometimes you just want to freshen things up a little at home. A sofa, curtains or bedspread can easily be refreshed with the help of a Fabric Spray.
