HaloSep ceases operations

HaloSep closes its operations as of January 1, 2025. The decision is based on a strategic overview and market analysis. The know-how will stay within the Research and Development function of Stena Metall.

HaloSep’s patented technology sets a new standard in waste management. It can purify and refine hazardous waste from flue gas cleaning, known as fly ash and scrubber fluid, which arises from waste incineration at district heating facilities. Through the process, previously hazardous waste is converted into new, valuable resources, such as minerals, metals, gypsum and specific salts. At the same time, it significantly reduces the environmental impact.

“Although the market conditions for treated fly-ash technology are uncertain we predict that the need will increase in the future as the demand for sustainable industrial solutions is increasing. Our proprietary technology not only promotes environmental sustainability by reducing landfill use but also opens economic opportunities through the recovery of resources pivotal for circular economy applications,” says Fredrik Overgaard, Director of Research and Development at Stena Metall.

The know-how and technology will be incorporated in the Research and Development function with the intention of offering a viable solution when the market is ready.
