Coveted Jewels and a Magnificent Giant Pearl in The Watches & Jewellery Collection
Coveted pink and blue diamonds, an opulent emerald suite with sparkling perfection – and an enormous natural pearl that would likely have made Queen Marie Antoinette green with envy. These are just some of the highlights in The Watches & Jewellery Collection, now on view at Stockholms Auktionsverk.
This spring’s The Watches & Jewellery Collection features an exclusive Belle Époque necklace in platinum, showcasing a remarkably large natural pearl, rarely seen on the market. The piece is believed to have been crafted in Paris around the year 1900.
To grasp the rarity of a pearl of this size, it's worth noting that only one in 10,000 wild oysters produces a natural pearl – and among those, very few meet the size, color, and shape sought after by the jewellery industry. Moreover, no new production exists, as pearl diving is no longer permitted.
“The necklace is made entirely of platinum, set with beautifully cut diamonds, and features one of the largest pearls I’ve ever encountered – estimated to be nearly twice the size of a similar pearl worn by the French queen Marie Antoinette,” says Sandra Johansson, jewellery specialist at Stockholms Auktionsverk.
Among the most exclusive pieces in The Watches & Jewellery Collection is also a dazzling gala suite consisting of 34 high-grade Colombian emeralds, each surrounded by diamonds. Exceptional luxury is also found in a delicate necklace composed of extremely rare modified rectangular brilliant-cut blue and pink diamonds. Natural pink diamonds are among the world’s most valuable and rare treasures, with prices reaching over USD 2 million per carat.
The auction will also include a curated selection of rare collector’s watches from the world’s most prestigious makers. Highlights include iconic models such as the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse, Rolex Daytona in steel, the 1970s Lemania “Viggen”, Rolex Explorer II “Steve McQueen”, and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Additionally, the catalogue features Rolex classics like the Datejust, Submariner, GMT Master II and Yacht Master, alongside models from other leading brands such as the Omega Speedmaster, and the Cartier Santos in multiple variants.
The Watches & Jewellery Collection is on public view at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm through May 23, when the live auction will take place. Browse the full catalogue here.
In parallel, The Exclusive Collection is also on view in the same location.
