The experimental design duo Wang & Söderström are taking charge of the Greenhouse area at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 4–8, 2020 – providing the Nordic region’s leading arena for up- and coming designers a suitable setting: – Our ambition is to create an environment that merges the futuristic and the contemporary, the digital and the physical, explain Anny Wang and Tim Söderström.
With a little over six months until Nordbygg 2020, the preparations for the most important fair for the construction and housing industry are well under way. The program is continuously expanded and the exhibition area is 93 per cent booked.
Genre-defying designer Fredrik Paulsen has been commissioned to create the Design Bar for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 4–8, 2020. The menu this time round will be composed by chefs Marion Ringborg and Linn Söderström from pop-up restaurant Garba.
Christian Clemens has been named the new CEO of Stockholmsmässan. Christian most recently held the position of CEO for the airline BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines. He will take over as head of Stockholmsmässan in January 2020.

As this year’s Guest of Honour the London-based studio Doshi Levien has been commissioned to create an installation for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February. Run by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, the studio has an international reputation for combining culture, technology, industrial design and true craftsmanship.
A recurring and appreciated feature of Nordbygg is the materials challenge New Eyes on ceramic tiles. It is a competition directed to Swedish architecture students and where the winning contribution is realised in full scale at Nordbygg.
More vegan food in schools! This is what food blogger Gustav “Jävligt Gott” Johansson is hoping for. That is why he arranged a study together with GastroSummit where more than 4,000 school children will be given the opportunity to try vegan food. Two large national competitions will also be held during GastroSummit: Junior Culinary Championships and Culinary Championships.
This year’s Formex Nova winner is Danish designer and artist Kasper Friis Kjeldgaard. In its motivation, the jury highlights Kasper’s sensual proximity to his materials and his unique feel for details and material transitions.
It is once again time for Summer Design Week in Stockholm August 19–25. During the week, Stockholm will be filled with interesting events to celebrate Nordic Design.
