Formex attracts growing international attention

Formex, the largest meeting place for Nordic interior design, came to a successful conclusion last weekend. The fair attracted a total of 20,703 visitors from 9,413 companies.11% of these companies came from countries other than Sweden, which is a larger percentage than ever before.

“We’ve quite clearly confirmed Formex’s position as the leading interior design trade fair in the Nordic region. Our previous record for non-Swedish visitors was 7% and, given that Swedish companies tend to bring along more employees than foreign companies, 11% non-Swedish companies represents a significant increase. We also had a large influx of new exhibiting companies, an impressive 167 compared to 138 last fall, which is proof that the fair is attractive. Formex is one of the events that literally fills our entire venue,” comments Chicie Lindgren at Stockholmsmässan, Event Manager of Formex.

The total number of visitors, however, contracted slightly from 23,407 visitors last fall to 20,703 this year. But given the current state of the economy, Chicie Lindgren remains upbeat.

“These are difficult times for all companies and clearly it’s no different for our customers. But many exhibitors reported taking plenty of orders during the fair, despite there being slightly fewer visitors, which suggests we attracted the all-important ‘core visitors’.”

Winner of Nova 2013:Mattias Stenberg

For the third year running, Formex’s Nova Design Award was presented to a young designer working in the Nordic region. This year’s winner is Mattias Stenberg from Studio Vision. The Jury’s motivation for picking him was for “a style brimming with confidence”.

Formex Formidable 2013

At the fair, 20 products from exhibiting companies were nominated for the Formex Formidable 2013 Award and the honorary ‘People’s Choice’ Award, which will be presented at the Formex press breakfast on 15 January 2014. Formex Formidable is decided by a jury and the ‘People’s Choice’ is decided by a public vote. The products can be seen at www.formex.se and the general public can now visit the website to vote.
