Formex January edition 2022 is canceled

Press release -

Formex January edition 2022 is canceled

In consultation with industry organisation PUFF (Presentgrossisternas Företagarförening), the decision to cancel Formex was taken yesterday. This is a result of a new wave of Covid, reinforced by the rapid expansion of the Omicron variant in Sweden as well many other countries. The next Formex will be held on August 23-26, 2022.

Formex is the most important Nordic fair for the interiors and design industry. We hoped for the longest time that the fair could go ahead as planned in January 18-21, 2022. The reason for the cancellation is the current pandemic situation and the infection peak expected by the authorities in January, which would make it difficult for Nordic exhibitors and visitors to take part.

“Formex is the largest Nordic trade fair and meeting place for the interiors and design industry, and we want to provide the very best conditions. Since it takes place in January, it is particularly affected by the pandemic. In close consultation with the industry organisation PUFF, we have therefore chosen to cancel and put all our efforts into Formex in August instead,” says Chicie Lindgren, Business Area Manager for Stockholm Design Events at Stockholmsmässan.

“Given the circumstances, which are beyond our control, including the expected peak in the spread of infection when the fair was planned to take place, we think it makes good sense to cancel. Now we’re setting our sights on the exhibition in late summer,” says Stefan Juhlin, CEO of PUFF.

The digital Formex Talk will be held as planned on January 18 and a new event, a pre sale for trade buyers will be launched in May.

Stockholmsmässan’s other fairs this spring will be held as planned, starting with the Antiques Fair and the boat show “Allt för sjön” in the beginning of March.
