Formex Stockholm delivers informal elegance

Ahead of the coming season Formex, September 1-4, offers inspiration drawn from barren Nordic winter landscapes, old British libraries and delicate Japanese ceramics. The exhibition will also provide a hint of what the next design generation has to offer.

PINE & DINE
Production duo Sanna Gebeyehu and Aia Jüdes are responsible for the Formex inspirational exhibition “Pine & Dine”, which also features a buffet and stage area. With the focus on food, they have created a cozy and somewhat masculine landscape using solid natural materials such as pine, copper and felted wool. Raw surfaces and structures mixed with refined elements.
“We are preparing for the winter with rustic fires, stoves and wood piles, which we have teamed with classic French kitchen appliances and modern designer furniture, for an environment that is both inspirational and cozy without being too over the top. The objects and materials are simple but top quality. We are working with InterfaceFLOR, among others, which designs and manufactures eco-friendly textile floor tiles. We hope that the relaxed atmosphere will encourage reflection and the desire to socialize,” explain Sanna Gebeyehu and Aia Jüdes.

Design Students selected by Formex
For the second time in a row, trend expert and founder of Designgalleriet Stefan Nilsson is selecting twelve of his favorite design students, graduates of Konstfack, Beckmans, Malmstens and Berghs, among other institutions.
“I am looking for a selection of interesting design solutions that complement the range at Formex. I am particularly keen to find items with a clear connection to what’s happening right now, e.g. the passion for handicrafts or the nostalgia trend. However, I really want them to put a new perspective on things, a new angle that surprises and seduces,” explains Stefan.
