February 8 ”Designing sustainable cities”
10:30 - 11:00 CET

How do we design and build more sustainable cities? What are the main challenges ahead and how are they affecting the architectural practice? What changes are needed in the industry - and how do we change our mindset from constantly building new structures to instead preserve and restore existing buildings?
Moderator: Marcus Fairs
Panelists: Beatrice Galilee, Duncan Baker-Brown

February 9 ”Studio visit: Åke Axelsson”
10:30 - 11:00 CET
We visit the the iconic Swedish interior architect, cabinet maker and furniture designer Åke Axelsson (b. 1932) in his atelier and workshop outside of Stockholm. Axelsson has designed and built more than 200 chair models during his 60-year career. His main focus has been interiors for spaces where we can meet, be it libraries, restaurants, town halls or churches, museums and cafés. His furnitures were often born out of specific interiors and then put in production, but he has also focused on producing as sustainable and resourceful furniture as possible.
With: Åke Axelsson and Hanna Nova Beatrice

February 10 ”Design for the Metaverse”
11.30-12.00 CET
Since Facebook announced their name change to Meta, the conversation around the metaverse has reached the mainstream. Already, 3 billion people are defined as gamers, and the next step for virtual environments are likely to be workspaces, with Microsoft leading the way. What does it mean for designers and architects when furniture, fashion, and art is becoming fully digital, selling for millions? How do we design mindful spaces for the generations to come?
Moderator: Konrad Olsson
Panelists: Andrés Reisinger, Emma Ridderstad, Laura Olin
