Press release -

Nordbygg, a door to the Swedish market

Nordbygg is seen by European actors in the construction sector as an increasingly important place to be. This year, one in five exhibitors is an international company.

More countries than ever are investing in so called national stands. That is, stand that are supported by a trade organisation in the country in question. The purpose is to support construction sector companies interested in exporting, so that they can present their offers and establish contacts with customers and partners in the Swedish and the other Nordic markets.

– That we see more national stands than before this year shows an increased European interest in Nordbygg, as a door to the Swedish and Nordic markets, says Peter Söderberg, Project Manager at Nordbygg.

First time for The Netherlands
For The Netherlands, this is the first time they participate with a national stand. Behind the initiative is the Dutch embassy in Stockholm.

– Nordbygg is important for an export country such as The Netherlands, not least since it has become more international, says Ines Coppoolse, the ambassador for The Netherlands in Stockholm.

She sees good opportunities at Nordbygg to create the basis for an increased export of Dutch construction-related products and services to Sweden and the Nordics.

Around ten companies
The Netherlands's stand will have around ten participating companies, where the common denominator is that they focus on sustainability and innovation. Among them the architectural firm UN Studio, in Sweden perhaps mostly known for being awarded the assignment of the formerly planned cable railway in Gothenburg and Construqt, a start-up in cooperation with KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) that has developed an IT support for the selection of building materials.

Apart from The Netherlands, Bavaria, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic and Austria will also have national stands.

Status report on the Nordic Construction Market
The international perspective is also noticed on April 22. The fair then invites the Chamber of Commerce with clients to a half-day with information on the Swedish and Nordic construction markets. Participating at the seminar are representatives from Invest Stockholm and Navet Analytics.
