Smart City – new event at Stockholmsmässan

In October 2020, Stockholmsmässan will introduce Smart City – Sweden’s leading meeting place for smart cities and urban innovation. Transport solutions of the future, smart properties, digital transformation and a generally better and more sustainable urban environment are some of the topics that will be raised at seminars, workshops, conferences and exhibitions.

Smart City has previously been part of SKYDD, focusing on security, but it will now run parallel to SKYDD as its own and more inclusive event at Stockholmsmässan on October 20-22, 2020. Interest in Smart City has grown exponentially, so it is time to push it out of the nest. This is part of the development of SKYDD, with the ambition to broaden the range of subjects and to reach new categories of participants within municipalities, state-owned companies, county councils, the real estate industry and the IT industry.

“In today’s society, where the metropolitan areas are constantly expanding and the need for smart solutions is steadily increasing, Smart City fills an important function,” says Annika Linderoth, Project Manager for Smart City.
“Housing construction, welfare services, digitalization and transport solutions are just a few examples of areas that place demands on the city’s infrastructure and require smart, sustainable solutions.”

Smart City is about innovation – an important driver of not only economic growth and welfare but also an environmentally conscious and sustainable society. Smart City is quite simply the natural meeting place for everyone engaged in some way in the development of the smart cities of the future.

There are several international forerunners, including Smart City in Barcelona – and it is now Stockholm’s turn. An obvious choice since it is one of Stockholm’s goals to be the world’s smartest city by 2040.
