Star-studded program at the largest interior fair in the Nordics

Formex opens its doors on Tuesday to a truly star-studded program. Designer legend Zandra Rhodes has designed the exhibition in the Entrance Hall – a veritable explosion of color! World-famous trend forecasters Li Edelkoort and Edouard Keller will share their trendspotting. Formex will present its own trendspotting, Formex Trends, and much, much more.

As always, Formex, the largest interior fair in the Nordics, will take over every inch at Stockholmsmässan – expect 750 exhibitors, 20,000 visitors and 650 media representatives!
National and international designers, buyers, agents, wholesalers and importers from the interiors and design industry will gather here January 15–18. In addition to providing the chance to see new products and do business, Formex also offers inspiration, trends and knowledge through exhibitions and lectures.

Several highpoints during Formex:

Seventy-eight-year-old design legend Zandra Rhodes has been named Formex Guest Influencer, and in this role she has created a colorful exhibition in the Entrance Hall that celebrates life. Inspired by her own home in London, the exhibition is overflowing with memorabilia she has collected over her long career. Zandra, who has dressed such famous names as Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury, celebrates 50 years as a designer this year.

Li Edelkoort and Edouard Keller – two of the world’s most in-demand trend forecasters – will attend Formex. These two exciting speakers will share their insights and offer inspiration exclusively to Formex exhibitors and visitors. Li Edelkoort works in many different industries, including fashion, interiors, cosmetics, retail and food. Her Paris-based company Trend Union creates trend books that look two years ahead and are used as strategic tools by designers and marketers of international brands. Edouard Keller represents Carlin Creative Trend Bureauin Paris, the world’s first trend agency, which was founded to provide the fashion and textile industry with trend intelligence. The Bureau currently has a presence in 25 countries.

Formex Trends SS2019 is a complete trend guide for the coming season. It presents three trends:
More is More Less is a Bore! Mixed material, creativity and an exciting new color palette.
Kindful Soul. Presence of nature, harmonious energy and sensual tactile sensations.
New Materialism. Timeless meets new, contrast-rich patterns and innovative recycled material.

Live-performance graffiti by Oliw87, who, in a collaboration with ABSOLUT ART, demonstrates his skills on a Jaguar on display in the Entrance Hall. Oliw87 started to paint graffiti and street art in the early 2000s. His motto is “Fast, dirty, genuine".

Kindful Lounge – a completely new lunch bar and café in Hall A that has a yoga studio (!) and offers energy massage and a makeup drop-in in collaboration with Kicks.

NEWS: Formex prepares for major changes to Formex in August 2019

As the Nordic region’s leading meeting place for design and interiors, Formex should be an inspirational and effective meeting place. The world is changing, and we are seeing new purchasing patterns and needs among exhibitors and visitors. The last time we made major changes to the halls was in 2011.

“We have had the divisions we have today since 2011, and we have been discussing a big change for some time. We are now ready to roll out this change,” says Christina Olsson, Event Manager for Formex. “It is inspiring to be able to offer exhibitors, and even visitors, a completely new hall layout at the fair. It gives all exhibitors the opportunity to renew themselves and be part of a new context.”

Eight completely new areas will be introduced at the fair in August: Dining, Scandinavian Living, Giving, Adding, Decorative Living, Up and Coming, Well-being and Lifestyle Living.
