Press release -

Stockholm Design Week is kicking off next week

Monday, February 8 marks the start of Stockholm Design Week. This year it will take a slightly different form with design activities in the city mixed with digital events online. Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair City & Digital Edition has various components, from the open showrooms across the city, where exhibitors that usually take part in the physical fair showcase their products, to the digital platforms for the Greenhouse, Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks and the conference on the workplaces of the future - WorkSpace Sweden. Highlights of the week include the announcement of this year’s Born Classic prize, exhibitions such as Misschiefs Takeover, Young Swedish Design at Kulturhuset, the TAKEAWAY pop-up at Galleri Duerr and the online portfolio for the Greenhouse.

Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks, February 10–11
This year’s Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks will all be online. SD&AT is a global forum for Scandinavian design, architecture and urban planning, where a wide range of international and Swedish experts give talks and participate in panel debates. The program can be viewed here and for accreditation send an email to press@stockholmsmassan.se

Activities during Stockholm Design Week, February 8–14
A whole host of design exhibitions will be taking place under the umbrella of Stockholm Design Week. Misschiefs Takeover will present limited editions of furniture and decorative objects by the female designers Sara Szyber, Lotta Lampa, Monica Förster, Färg & Blanche, Kajsa Willner, Isa Andersson, Frida Fjellman and Maja Michaelsdotter Ericsson, while other activities include the TAKEWAY pop-up shop for art, crafts and design at Galleri Duerr, Young Swedish Design at Kulturhuset, designer Marie-Louise Hellgren’s shop window for NK, plus many more. More info on what’s happening in Stockholm Design Week can be found here.

Greenhouse
Greenhouse is usually an exhibition at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair where up-and-coming designers from around the world display their work. This year there’ll be an online portfolio of works and products from 13 designers and 14 design schools in Sweden and further afield. 10 a.m. on February 8 is when www.greenhousedesign.se goes live. A mini-Greenhouse will also be appearing in the superellipse at Sergels Torg, where the design schools Beckmans, Malmstens and Konstfack will be showcasing works.

Born Classic – tomorrow’s design classics, February 11
The Born Classic design prize is awarded jointly by Bukowskis and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair to a new product with the qualities to make it a design classic of the future. The nominees will be introduced on Monday, February 8 and the winner of the Born Classic prize 2021 will be announced on February 11. More information about the prize and the jury is available here.

Digital press conference, 10 a.m. on February 8 – accreditation
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair City & Digital Edition will open with a digital press conference on Monday at 10 a.m., led by Sanna Gebeyehu, Concept & Product Owner Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, and the journalist and presenter Mark Isitt. The press conference will also venture out across the city to visit designers and producers such as Blå Station, Flokk, Aritco, Spotify, Monica Förster Design Studio, Form Us With Love and Misschiefs Takeover.
