Press release -

Stockholm Furniture Fair – a force for the future

The 2024 edition of Stockholm Furniture Fair celebrates community spirit, and – although more focused in scale – comes with a remarkable line-up of exhibitors and cutting-edge installations. By merging culture with commerce, we believe Stockholm Furniture Fair 2024 will serve as a test bed for new ideas to return to in times to come.

The Guest of Honour 2024 is the Italian design studio FORMAFANTASMA. Their installation READING ROOM at the entrance square, showcases their dedication to research and sets the tone for the fair.

Other highlights include the large-scale exhibition FARMING ARCHITECTS by Jordens Arkitekter – a manifest for future living showcasing the links between sustainable architecture and regenerative agriculture.

Many exhibitions address current topics such as forestry, local production, waste management and our changing perception of aesthetics. In the exhibition THE MUSEUM OF MASONITE, the Swedish studio Folkform celebrates locality in a time when small-scale local industry is under threat. Every afternoon, Folkform invites to daily book readings from the book The Production Novellas with a glas of wine.

This year, the popular platform ÄLVSJÖ GÅRD, featuring designers, makers and artists moving between small scale and industry, pop up inside Hall A at the fair. Among the exhibiting are the German designer Carsten in der Elst, as well as Gustav Winsth, Alexander Lervik and Kajsa Melchior from Sweden.

We also introduce new arenas such as NEW VENTURES, focusing on a new breed of designers reflecting new tendencies in the industry. It includes first-time exhibitors such as Niko June, NM3, Gustaf Westman Objects, Swedish Girls and more.

The fair has three dedicated design bars THE YELLOW THREAD, THE GREENHOUSE BAR and SURFACE CLUB by design studios Färg & Blanche, Stamuli and Lab La Bla respectively. The latter is based on waste streams, includes a mini golf course, and hosts a DJ every afternoon.

The SFF TALKS programme is curated in collaboration with different platforms including PIN-UP Magazine (US) and Disegno Journal (UK). Among the speakers are Patricia Urquiola, Faye Toogood, Industrial Facility and Bethan Laura Wood. Italian magazine Capsule invites to a conversation with German artist Carsten Höller, and designer Emma Olbers offers daily tours with the climate in focus.

The new award BEST IN SHOW by SIGHT UNSEEN is awarded to an up-and-coming designer in our popular area GREENHOUSE, where you also find the exhibition YOUNG SWEDISH DESIGN.

The exhibition FIELD OF COLOUR, designed by Specific Generic, is a 140 square meter colour lab of natural pigments by colour studio Toniton.
