Stockholm Furniture Fair returns in 2027 – Greater emphasis on business, innovation, and the future of Scandinavian Design
Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture Fair are presenting a clear vision for the future after extensive analysis and development work in collaboration with the industry. The result is a new, more focused positioning and direction for both platforms. For Stockholm Furniture Fair, this translates into three key priorities: an expanded focus on business opportunities, innovation, and Scandinavian design.
The industry has been clear: Sweden needs a design week that unites two important platforms – an international meeting place for Scandinavian Design where the industry can gather to do business and grow, and a more public-facing platform showcasing the full breadth of Scandinavian design. In February 2027 both Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week will return.
Stockholm Design Week will bring together actors from across design disciplines and showcase the full breadth of Swedish and Scandinavian design culture for both the design-interested public and industry professionals – everyone is invited! As part of Stockholm Design Week, Stockholm Furniture Fair acts as a driving force for the week with a renewed focus on the future.
Three key priorities at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2027
1. More and stronger business opportunities
A central part of the development is to strengthen the platform’s role as a business-driving meeting place – a curated marketplace generating concrete business opportunities and collaborations. This will be achieved through more activities and tools for networking and meetings.
2. Future focus — a new area for innovation
Innovation will become a dedicated area at Stockholm Furniture Fair, focusing on materials, processes, methods, and collaborations with research and related industries. Sweden consistently ranks among the world’s most innovative countries, and Stockholm Furniture Fair aligns with this culture of innovation. The platform will serve as an arena where innovations, new ideas, and sustainable solutions in materials, technology, production, and circular practices are presented, discussed, and developed.
3. Scandinavian Design in every aspect
Stockholm Furniture Fair has been a home for Scandinavian design for 75 years. The platform is now being further developed to solidify its role as an international reference point. Rooted in Sweden’s progressive approach – where quality, functionality, and sustainability are core values – Stockholm Furniture Fair will showcase what defines and drives Scandinavian design today. Scandinavian design, culture, and lifestyle will shape everything from content to visitor experience.

In close dialogue with the industry, two structural changes have also been introduced for 2027. Stockholm Furniture Fair will now be held every other year, giving companies more time to develop new products, invest in innovation, and achieve greater impact with their launches. At the same time, the event will be shortened to four days, creating a more concentrated platform with greater focus on professional meetings and business, as Saturday is removed.
A new approach to exhibiting
The focus will shift from large stand constructions to more creative, flexible, and innovative presentations. Collaborations and shared solutions will play a larger role, with multiple participants sharing space and creating value together. The ambition is a platform layout that is open, accessible, and welcoming – enabling more participants to take part.
The goal is clear: Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture Fair will act as a gathering force, bringing the industry together and creating the conditions for it to grow and evolve.
