Press release -

Sustainable Meet Stockholm and Stockholmsmässan put the city on the map as the go-to destination for sustainable meetings

Stockholmsmässan is an active partner in the Sustainable Meet Stockholm collaboration and marketing project, which aims to promote Stockholm as a sustainable meeting destination. As the Nordic region’s largest meeting place, Stockholmsmässan will lead the way toward a more sustainable meeting sector, and part of this work involves collaborating with the whole meetings industry to boost Stockholm’s status as a sustainable meeting destination.

Stockholm has a good reputation and is considered to be at the forefront of environmental and sustainability issues. But this good work is not always reflected in international rankings. Sustainable Meet Stockholm wants to change this. The aim of the project is to put Stockholm on the map as the go-to destination for sustainable meetings and events.

– As the Nordic region’s largest meeting place, we will lead the way toward a more sustainable meeting industry. Our new company strategy for 2023–2025 gives sustainability issues an even more prominent place than before. By working together, we will create a sustainable meeting industry and boost Stockholm’s status both internationally and nationally as a sustainable meeting destination, explains Christian Clemens, CEO of Stockholmsmässan.

Stockholm – a sustainable meeting destination
The aim is to unite the tourism industry around a common message and platform to jointly promote and position Stockholm as a sustainable meeting destination in the international and national market, and to make Stockholm the go-to choice for sustainable meetings. The idea is to work together to make the options more visible to the customer, thereby strengthening their own business.

It is a private-sector initiative run by the tourism industry, with Visit Stockholm as a strategic partner. After a successful first project period, where the focus was on displaying the partners’ products under one umbrella, building a digital platform and providing training in sustainability, a new period has just begun.

Together with many high-quality and committed partners, Sustainable Meet Stockholm continues to collaborate over the long term to create a strong and sustainable meeting industry.
