Swedish Wood becomes Sustainability Partner for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2021

Today it was confirmed that industry organization Swedish Wood will be the Sustainability Partner for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. This represents a long-term commitment to sustainability for both the fair and Swedish Wood, with a focus on knowledge about using natural materials and recycling to create a more sustainable and circular event.

“We’ve enjoyed a significant collaboration with Swedish Wood for many years, so we are pleased to have them as our very first Sustainability Partner. This is an important initiative for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and we aim to engage more partners in our sustainability work moving forward,” says Cecilia Nyberg, Project Area Manager for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.

During the last two years, Swedish Wood contributed both expertise and materials for three major projects: the Design Bar, create by Andersen & Voll, and design studio Neri & Hus’s major installation, both from 2019, plus the exhibition Re-defining the Office from 2020. Now Swedish Wood will once again be providing knowledge and advice for the fair’s creatives and exhibitors on issues to do with production, circularity and the choice of renewable materials.

“Wood is the obvious choice when it comes to promoting sustainability and circularity, which is why we feel it’s important to bring our knowledge and experience to the table. Swedish Wood has a strong focus on sustainability, whether ecological, economic or social. The partnership with Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair therefore feels like the perfect fit. We’ve been involved in several activities with them over the years and look forward to more,” says Björn Nordin, Director of Interior and Design at Swedish Wood.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is working on sustainability across several fronts and for 2021, exhibitors are being offered The Nude Edition, a scaled-back stand concept with a focus on sustainability. This is a way to make sure that everyone can take part in the 2021 event, despite parts of the industry having a tough time financially this year.

Through the Sustainability Partnership, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and the exhibiting companies are keen to provide a platform for highlighting the unique position of Scandinavia, and not least Sweden, as a leader on sustainability in the furniture and lighting industry. The aim is to provide inspiration and information on working and living sustainably.
