The fall season starts at Formex

Formex, Scandinavia's largest meeting place for interior design, ended this weekend. Over four days, the interior design and gift industry gathered at Stockholmsmässan to place orders for the fall season and view the latest trends.

Under one roof, nearly 900 exhibitors from 13 countries assembled and offered the latest in decoration and design to buyers and journalists from 72 countries. A total of about 21,000 visitors came, an increase compared to last fall. The trend of greater numbers of Nordic visitors continues, with the most visitors coming from Finland, Norway, Denmark and Germany.

- It's clear that a strong economic upturn is underway. The mood at the fair was very positive. Many new items were presented, and exhibitors have reported good business; many had already reached the expected level of sales for the exhibition after 2-3 days, and some reached all-time-high levels, said Christina Olsson, Project Manager at Formex.

The fall trend theme “Soft Nordic” proved to be a hit as reflected in the exhibitors’ offerings, and the Formex inspirational exhibits were greatly appreciated by the visitors. The fair's focus on seminars, including the topic of design and sustainability were well received, with several hundred people in the audience.

An innovation of the fall show was an exhibition of the nominees for Formex’s Nova prize for the year's top Nordic designer. The nominees were also on hand to meet visitors, journalists and manufacturers.

Another new feature was the Formex Studio, which invited the public to follow the trade fair through posts on the blog http://formexmagazine.se/.

The next Formex will take place on January 14–17, 2015 at Stockholmsmässan.
