This fall’s Formex showcases Nordic Charm
The theme for this fall’s Formex 2012 is Nordic Charm, a tribute to the blond, simple Nordic style of interior design. The exhibition also has a new slot on the calendar, taking place on 16‑19 August.
“We’re embracing the new retro feeling that is sweeping through the world of interior design and finding a modern expression of this nostalgic and popular aesthetic,” explains Formex project manager Chicie Lindgren.
Within this fall’s theme, rounded forms meet sharp angles, neutral colors are matched with bold, colorful shades and minimalism gives way to an abundance of pattern. The textiles offer spots, graphic patterns, stylized flowers, leaves and vegetables, while the kitchen becomes a gallery for attractive utensils and local produce on open shelves. The color palette is inspired by nature and the pale Nordic light, where a subtle neutral base combines with fresh shades from the fall’s bountiful harvest. Freely mixing and matching is the key and everything feels like it has a story to tell.
Formex is a classic meeting place for the interiors industry and an exhibition that many will agree now sets the tone across the Nordic region. Twice a year, buyers, designers, journalists and bloggers come together to see what the new season has to offer in terms of products and trends.
“From this fall, Formex will take place in week 3 (January) and week 33 (August) each year. Exhibitors and visitors have long been asking for this change and we are now happy to oblige,” continues Chicie.
“Over 850 exhibitors will be presenting their fall collections and, with a packed program of seminars, trendspotting and inspirational exhibitions, there is not much that Formex, the Nordic region’s leading meeting place for the interiors industry, doesn’t have,” concludes Chicie Lindgren.

Formex will take place on 16-19 August 2012 at Stockholmsmässan. Formex is the meeting place for innovation, business, trends, knowledge and inspiration. The exhibition is held twice a year, with 850 exhibitors, 25,000 trade visitors and 850 media representatives.
