Train & Rail – a new arena for the railway industry in Stockholm in 2023

Press release -

Train & Rail – a new arena for the railway industry in Stockholm in 2023

Next spring, Train & Rail, the rail industry’s major new initiative to create an international event, will be held at Stockholm International Fairs. Rail transport and sustainable transport are high on the agenda in Sweden and Europe, and the industry wants to address the need for relevant solutions. Train & Rail will take place on 25-27 April 2023.

No other mode of transport is higher on the agenda in the Nordic region than rail at the moment. Both passenger and freight traffic are growing rapidly and the need to discuss ongoing projects and future issues has never been greater. Train & Rail will therefore be the obvious place to go for anyone who wants to broaden their network, learn about the latest technological developments and be inspired by all the initiatives currently being taken to strengthen the competitiveness of the rail industry.

“Swedtrain has launched this initiative, together with Stockholm International Fairs, because our members did not have a major meeting place open to the entire industry. We look forward to making this meeting something unique, which will really show that rail is the best and most sustainable means of transport for the future,” says Gabriel Modéus, Secretary General of Swedtrain.

Great interest in exhibiting
The interest in Train & Rail has already exceeded all expectations. As the industry rapidly grows and develops, so does the importance of bringing everyone – suppliers, operators, associations and other stakeholders, elected representatives and other decision-makers – together in one single place.

“A lot of companies have already booked stands and want to contribute in various ways to creating attractive content. In general, there are numerous clear indicators that Train & Rail is an event that the industry wants,” says Björn Wengse, Event Manager at Stockholm International Fairs.

Train & Rail will be the new impetus that is needed in the Nordic railway industry. A long-awaited arena that provides a proper overview and creates unique opportunities for building relationships and future business.

A new, unique event, based on meetings, conferences and an exhibition
“We are really looking forward to Train & Rail, where we can together shape our industry to meet the challenges of the future in areas such as sustainability, digitalization and skills development. Considering everything that is happening in the industry, and in the wake of the pandemic, the timing couldn’t be better,” says Robert Whyte, Managing Director Alstom Nordics & Russia, who has already booked a place at the trade fair.

“We are looking forward to having a focused arena in which development and collaboration are given more prominence – a new, society-focused meeting place that gives the industry strength and coherence,” continues Whyte.

The topics currently defined as focal points are societal benefits & efficiency, capacity shortage, maintenance backlog, digitalization, ERTMS, a new generation of railway workers, public procurement and alternative financing.
