Press release -

Storebrand included in Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Storebrand has been assessed by the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the world's leading listed companies in work on sustainability.

– We are proud to receive such recognition. We have very clear goals for our work with sustainability within the entire group including pension, investments, banking and insurance. This ranking is a good indication that we succeed in making sustainability a driving force for all employees, says Odd Arild Grefstad, CEO of Storebrand.

The Dow Jones is a comprehensive and recognized ranking of listed companies' work with sustainability. The index includes companies in the top ten percent in each industry.

– For all companies that work with a long-term perspective, it is economically sensible to continuously improve on sustainability. We believe it is in our customers’ interest, and that our investments, products and own operations will be more profitable in a future world that handles the climate crisis, restores and takes care of biological diversity, has low levels of corruption and high labor participation, says Grefstad.

This year, 3400 companies were part of the assessment. Storebrand is ranked top three percent in global insurance.

Influences through investments

– Ahead of COP28, the world received a stocktake on the climate goals. It was far from uplifting. We must step up and work harder. We particularly see the need for better interaction between regulating authorities, business and finance to get results, says Grefstad.

Storebrand has greatest impact through its investments of NOK 1100 billion. At the same time, we work to improve our own operations and our own procurement.
