Press release -

Storebrand once again ranked as one of the world's most sustainable companies

Storebrand is once again ranked as the world's most sustainable insurance company in Corporate Knights' Global 100 list. The result sums up years of step-by-step work towards increasingly ambitious goals.

"It is great to see that our long-term efforts to achieve sustainability throughout our organization are contributing to tangible results. This work also helps ensure the resilience of our operations, and builds faith in our potential for future growth," says Odd Arild Grefstad, CEO of Storebrand.

The Canadian financial magazine Corporate Knights annually ranks the 100 most sustainable companies in the world. The result of the award is presented in conjunction with the annual World Economic Forum summit in Davos, digitally on January 19th.

For Storebrand and the 99 other companies, this means that the information we share with the public about emissions cuts, procurement, gender equality, wage ratios, investment strategy, taxes, and corporate governance gives us a world-class sustainability profile.

Performance is based on a detailed review of 23 sustainability indicators. According to Corporate Knights, the companies on the list are leading the way in the green shift to sustainability. Compared to the average public company, Global 100 members generate more than four times as much revenue per ton of carbon emitted and almost eight times more output per unit of energy consumed.

“Strong performance on these metrics is foundational to achieving a clean and carbon-neutral economy in the necessary time frame,” says Corporate Knights CEO Toby Heaps, “and the sustained momentum is encouraging.”

This year's ranking revealed that more companies are setting science-based targets to reduce emissions by 2050 and circular economy is becoming more important.
