Press release -

Storebrand rated as a world leading company in sustainability

Storebrand has been assessed by the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the world's leading listed companies in work on sustainability.

- We are proud to receive such recognition. It motivates us to continue going full throttle, both in sustainability reporting and when including sustainability in our operations and investments. We believe it is possible to make a difference by moving investments in a direction that contributes to achieving the sustainability goals. Consideration of sustainability must be an important part of our business, and our employees contribute to this every day, says Odd Arild Grefstad, CEO of Storebrand.

The Dow Jones is a comprehensive and recognized ranking of listed companies' work with sustainability. The index includes companies in the top ten percent in each industry. Storebrand is included in the list, ranked number five in the insurance category worldwide, climbing six points from last year's ranking.

Impact through investments

- It is disturbing that, in 2022, we do not see further progress in reaching the sustainability goals. We need better interaction between regulatory authorities, businesses and the financial industry to get results faster, says Grefstad.

Storebrand has greatest impact through its investments of NOK 1,000 billion. The aim is to cut the overall emissions in the investments by 32 per cent by 2025. In order to achieve this, Storebrand as an investor depends on its investees. Dialogue with companies about restructuring plans, new opportunities and best practice is a central task.

- In 2022, we have engaged with senior management in the 20 companies that contribute the most to our investments' emissions. The job ahead is to turn up the pace for change, says Grefstad.

- Storebrand has been rated even higher by Dow Jones this year. This is due to our increased transparency and development of new reports, we also reported more target figures and had all relevant numbers verified. In addition, we rank best in the world in our industry on a new question related to the group's decarbonisation strategy, says Karin Greve-Isdahl, Executive Vice President responsible for sustainability.
