#WorldPotholeDay Gains Momentum on Twitter

Street Repairs the coordinators and hosts of National Pothole Day for the UK have had an unprecedented response from the worldwide on-line community.

So much so they have launched a countdown to "World Pothole Day" on the 25th of March 2015 to highlight the worldwide problem of potholes after being contacted by many angry road users having to put up with substandard roads.

The spokesperson for Street Repairs Colin Mahoney Stated “ We are blown away by public sentiment worldwide. People from all around the world are just sick and tired of having to put up with extra expenditure for tyres and suspension damage not forgetting the road safety aspect, especially for cyclists and motorcyclists. In this so called modern world there should be an easier way to report potholes to ensure they are repaired quickly and efficiently. This is the sole objective of Street Repairs”

The intuitive Street Repairs system (available in the UK at the moment) can let users report road defects to local authorities in real time by either using their app or directly from their website.

Twitter and social media followers are passionate about what Street Repairs have achieved in such a short space of time by simply highlighting reported issues via social media. The impact of this tactic is to show the authorities that in this digital age, transparency and public and engagement should be their number one priority.

Street Repairs also has a man on the ground visiting the worst roads and challenging repair times, repair techniques and expenditure. Mr Pothole aka Mark Morrell has been working closely with Street Repairs from the outset liaising with TV, Radio and press associations globally on their behalf to ensure these serious issues do not get swept under the carpet.

Never underestimate the power of social media. In this day and age it can be looked upon as a voting tool. No doubt the people of the world will want to voice their frustrated concerns relating to potholes. Street Repairs has simply given them such a platform.

You can help keep your roads safe, clean and inviting, by reporting any maintenance problems you notice to your local authority. In the past it has been difficult and time consuming to make a report, with residents needing to track down the correct department, follow the right procedure or even identifying the correct location of the defect. Trying to follow a reported fault can also be tedious, with Street Repairs it’s easy to follow your report as we keep you updated with regular text messages and emails. Our systems will identify your location, find the right authority and keep you posted on progress.

Street Repairs makes the whole process much easier, by providing one website through which residents can submit any problem, to any local council anywhere, any-time. Smartphone technology has allowed residents to report problems in real time. You can attach photographs and give a detailed description whilst out and about. Basically we have handed street fault reporting power over to you the public.

Once the problem is reported, our work is only just beginning. We try to work with local authorities to help them prioritise the works that need carrying out which assists in managing their maintenance budgets. We also encourage and closely monitor their progress and follow up on all cases submitted via the Street Repairs. Progress updates from the authorities are regularly requested to ensure a satisfactory outcome for local residents and the authorities.

Street Repairs is committed to making it as easy as possible for local people to report local problems to their local authority. We then try to work with the authority to get these issues resolved, while keeping the original informant up-to-date with the progress being made.
