Baritone Waltteri Torikka named as the young musician of the year 2014!
Pro Musica Foundation's Board of Directors has named Waltteri Torikka as "young musician of the year 2014".
In addition to a scholarship for artistic work, he is offered a concert in Tampere Hall in the autumn of 2014, co-produced by Pro Musica Foundation and Tampere Hall.
Baritone Waltteri Torikka has sung number of leading roles in Finland, has succeeded in singing competitions and is the only Finnish male singer accepted to compete in the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Helsinki in August 2014. This summer he will make his debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. This Autumn Waltteri Torikka sings the role of Marcello in Jyske Opera's new "La Boheme" touring production e.g. in Aarhus and Copenhagen.
Finnish Pro Musica Foundation was set up in 1974 by the President and CEO Lauri J. Kivekäs and his wife, Elsa Kivekäs, the purpose of which is to support the art of music and expeptionally talented young Finnish musicians.
