Press release -

Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways (ANA) to establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport – will launch direct route to Tokyo

Japan’s largest airline, ANA, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a direct route to the country’s major hub, Tokyo Haneda. ANA will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda, connecting the Swedish capital with one of the most important markets in Asia.

ANA (All Nippon Airways), a member of Star Alliance and the largest provider of scheduled passenger services on the domestic and international market to and from Japan, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a direct route to Tokyo Haneda ahead of the 2024 winter schedule. The route will not only serve as an important connection to the Japanese capital but also as an important connection to the whole of Asia and the South Pacific due to ANAs vast network.

- There is great confidence in the Swedish air travel market and ANA’s investment in a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Tokyo Haneda is a clear sign of this. ANA will play an important role in connecting Sweden to Japan and other well-established markets in Asia. Swedavia’s main goal is to increase the connectivity and ANAs vast network facilitates for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, says Jonas Abrahamsson, president and CEO of Swedavia.

Japan is Sweden’s second largest trading partner in Asia, with close to 150 Swedish companies – both major corporations and start-up companies – operating in Japan, the world’s third largest economy. Sweden in turn is the largest Nordic export market for Japan, and roughly 180 Japanese companies have operations in Sweden.

The new direct route with 5-Star airline ANA will be of significant importance for the hospitality industry as well as the growing business exchange between Japan and Sweden. Important cargo such as technology will benefit from shorter and faster delivery times.

The route Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Tokyo Haneda will start operating ahead of the winter schedule of 2024.
