Press release -

New direct route from Stockholm to Bucharest

The Romanian carrier Blue Air is now launching non-stop service to the weekend destination of Bucharest from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. There will be two weekly departures for leisure and business travellers flying to the Romanian capital. The air link is a result of the increasing demand in flights to Bucharest as a weekend destination. At the same time, it will be easier and more convenient for people flying home to Bucharest to visit friends and family.

"We have some 50,000 passengers a year flying to and from Bucharest, and traffic has grown steadily over the past decade. About half of these passengers fly via another European airport, so we are pleased to now have another direct route to Bucharest from Stockholm,” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Aviation Market Director at Swedavia.

"We are proud to operate our first route in Sweden and Scandinavia today and we share this excitement with Romanians in Stockholm, who may now come home to their families more often. Furthermore, this airport pair will be a fantastic opportunity for Swedish travelers, who aim to cross another destination off their bucket list. This moment marks the beginning of a long and successful operations between Blue Air and Stockholm Arlanda Airport”, says Tudor Constantinescu, Chief Commercial Officer at Blue Air.

Bucharest is one of the best kept secrets in Europe, with a wide range of restaurants, bars, art galleries and museums now popping up in every newly refurbished neighbourhood. The city has many different beautiful landmarks, with the most impressive being the Palace of the Parliament.
