Press release -

New non-stop service with Ryanair to Budapest from Gothenburg

In a short period of time, several direct routes have been established at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Now the capacity increases further when Ryanair starts a non-stop service to Budapest. The airline continues to expand at Göteborg Landvetter and the number of Ryanair routes has doubled in the last three years. This is the twentieth non-stop service operated by the airline from Göteborg Landvetter. Traffic is scheduled to start on 29th October 2019 with two departures a week.

Budapest is a popular destination from Göteborg Landvetter, and with the new Ryanair service, people in western Sweden will now have more departures to choose from. Each year, about 70,000 travellers fly between Gothenburg and Budapest, that number equally divided between Swedish and Hungarian passengers. Most Swedes are leisure travellers, while Hungarians visiting Gothenburg do so as tourists and to visit friends and family.

“In a short time, we are getting another direct route to western Sweden, which is really gratifying. It is also nice to note that in the past few years there is a greater increase in Hungarians travelling here than in people from western Sweden travelling there, so it is clear that our region is attractive for visiting and experiencing,” said Anna Strömwall, Airport Director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.

The capital of Hungary consists of two city halves, Buda and Pest, on either side of the Danube River and, with its magnificent buildings and boulevards, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A variety of influences have left their mark, which accounts for the city’s exciting mix of architecture, gastronomy and culture. Read more here about what Budapest has to offer.

Ryanair will launch non-stop service between Gothenburg and Budapest on 29th October 2019 with departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The aircraft type is a Boeing B737-800 with seating for 189 passengers.
