SAS to launch non-stop service to Rhodes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Just in time for summer, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is launching another direct route to Greece, now to the island of Rhodes. Located in the far south of the Aegean Sea, Rhodes offers natural beauty with its mountainous and green landscape, citrus groves and olive trees. Departures from Stockholm Arlanda Airport will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer.

SAS will fly to and from Rhodes on Wednesdays and Saturdays between June 23 and August 4. Today SAS flies non-stop from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Athens, Thessaloniki, Chania on the island of Crete, and Mykonos.

The island has something for everyone, with its beautiful beaches, hiking trails and the town of Rhodes, whose medieval centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“It is gratifying that SAS makes it easier for Swedish holiday-makers to get to the Greek islands during the summer. We are seeing a substantial increase in demand for Mediterranean destinations. In just five years, the number of our passengers flying to Greece has nearly doubled,” said Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia.

“We continue to adjust our destinations to our passengers’ wishes and see that more and more people want to fly with us in their leisure time, especially during the summer. This year, we are also investing significant resources in Greece, now with Rhodes as our fifth destination from Stockholm, but also Portugal, Italy, Spain and Croatia, with new or additional routes during the summer, including Lisbon, Palma, Verona and Malaga as well as Beirut via Copenhagen,” said Anders Wahlström, Head of Sales for SAS Sweden.
