Air Canada to establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport – will launch two direct routes to Montreal and Toronto

Canada's largest airline, Air Canada, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with two direct routes, one of which is a new destination – Montreal – on June 12th as of next year. Operating direct routes to Toronto and Montreal five times a week, Air Canada will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda, connecting the Swedish capital with Canada as well as the North American market.

Norwegian celebrates 20th jubilee since first flight from Stockholm Arlanda Airport

On the 1st of September 2003, the first ever flight with the airline Norwegian took place between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Oslo Gardermoen. Twenty years on, Norwegian has served almost 65 000 000 passengers flying to and from Arlanda Airport, making their well know red nosed planes a familiar sight in the skies above the airport.

Swedavia’s traffic statistics for July 2023

The strong growth in summer air travel continued in July. More than 3.2 million passengers flew via Swedavia’s ten airports during the month, an increase of more than 14 per cent compared to July last year. As a result, for the third straight month more than three million passengers flew via Swedavia’s airports, and July is also the single strongest month for travel since October 2019.

Malmö Airport to invest in electric aviation – will be test arena for Heart Aerospace’s electric aircraft

Swedavia has decided to make Malmö Airport the test arena for Heart Aerospace’s ES-30 electric aircraft. The full-scale aircraft model will be tested and used to demonstrate taxiing and charging at the airport. Also taking part in the test activities alongside Swedavia are Heart Aerospace, the airlines BRA and SAS, and the Swedish battery developer Northvolt.

Nouvelair back at Stockholm Arlanda – will launch new direct route to Tunisia

Tunisia’s second largest carrier, Nouvelair, is back at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and will launch non-stop service to Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN). The route will be served once a week, on Mondays, with an Airbus 320 starting June 19.

Ryanair continues its heavy investment in Arlanda and will launch two more routes

Ryanair continues to invest heavily in the Swedish market and Stockholm Arlanda Airport and is adding a new aircraft for its expanded service. Six new routes have been launched since October 30, 2022, and Ryanair has now announced two new destinations in its summer schedule. The new route to Dublin will launch on March 26 while the new route to Porto will launch on June 4.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport is being developed and air traffic is on the rise. As a result, there is a great need for labour at the airport, which already today is one of Sweden’s biggest employers. On January 30, a well-attended and rewarding Recruitment Day was held at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which involved more than 30 companies operating at the airport. More than 1,000 job openings in all can
