Tunisia’s second largest carrier, Nouvelair, is back at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and will launch non-stop service to Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN). The route will be served once a week, on Mondays, with an Airbus 320 starting June 19.
Ryanair continues to invest heavily in the Swedish market and Stockholm Arlanda Airport and is adding a new aircraft for its expanded service. Six new routes have been launched since October 30, 2022, and Ryanair has now announced two new destinations in its summer schedule. The new route to Dublin will launch on March 26 while the new route to Porto will launch on June 4.
During January, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports increased more than 90 per cent compared to January 2022 to 2.1 million. Travel is thus back to 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Swedavia, together with its partners, is mobilising resources even now for an intensive summer travel period.
Business leaders, political officials and representatives of government agencies and the aviation industry met Friday 3rd of February at Göteborg Landvetter Airport under the scope of the regularly held TakeOff event. In conjunction, the airport’s new terminal section, the largest expansion in the airport’s history to date, was inaugurated.
SAS is expanding its network of routes and enhancing connectivity between North America and western Sweden and will launch a new direct route to New York from Gothenburg in April 2023. The route will be served three times a week with the new Airbus 321LR aircraft.
The new Stockholm Arlanda Airport is taking shape. A number of shops and restaurants will be ready to open early next summer, when the first part of the new Marketplace will be completed, together with a new security checkpoint. An agreement has now been signed with RC Café & Pâtisserie, which will open a number of exciting new outlets at Arlanda.
The Serbian carrier Air Serbia is expanding its air transport network in Europe and launching non-stop service from Göteborg Landvetter in time for summer. In mid-May, it will resume service to the Serbian capital, which it last served in 2013.
International connectivity to and from the region is growing, and three new international routes at Luleå Airport will start up in December. After a wait of several years, it is finally time for the launch of SAS’s new direct route to London. On December 16, French tour operator Quartier Libre and Transavia will begin service to Paris, followed by Eurowings route to Düsseldorf on December 25.
The German low-cost carrier Eurowings continues to have great faith in the Swedish market and is meeting demand by expanding its offering and opening two more new direct routes from its new base at Stockholm Arlanda. The airline will launch new service this spring to Rome, the capital of Italy, and to Stuttgart, the so-called German car capital, in southwestern Germany.
The new Stockholm Arlanda Airport continues to take shape, and when the new security checkpoint and the Marketplace are completed, many new restaurants and bars will open. Among other changes, Stockholm Arlanda Airport’s first food hall will open its doors. Passengers will be able to enjoy food from a number of different restaurants here.
On Thursday, December 1, Malmö Airport – Sweden’s third largest airport and the international airport for southern Sweden – turns 50. The airport has an important role in Swedish connectivity, and since it opened in 1972 more than 60 million passengers have flown to or from there.
