How to hold good online meetings

Covid-19 forces us to do many things differently. Physical meetings are currently replaced with video conferences. As a global company videoconferencing is an integrated part of the way we work. In this blog post, Lead System Engineer, Jan Reher, and Senior System Engineer, Anne Vinter Ratzer, share tips on how to get the most out of your video meetings.

We, Jan Reher and Anne Vinter Ratzer, have been employed at Systematic for a long time, and are both very interested in how people collaborate, and in helping them become better at it.

It is our hope that this video will be useful to people with less experience in videoconferencing, who find themselves suddenly forced to quickly learn new ways of working and collaborating.

These are our main points:
1. An online meeting is a meeting, and all the practices and patterns that make for a good meeting also apply to online meetings.
2. Equipment and set-up matters. You need good microphones and good cameras.
3. Discipline is extra important in an online meeting.
