Covid-19: Systematic strengthens company culture globally

The software company appoints interim Corona Chief Entertainment Officers and brings worldwide employees together online

With the coronavirus virus taking its toll on the world, Systematic has changed from a company with 12 offices in 11 countries to 1100 home offices, as employees continue to develop software for the healthcare, defence, education sectors among others. Work continues, meetings are held, and deadlines are met, but the social aspect is missing, and on that basis Systematic's CEO Michael Holm has appointed a handful of interim CCEOs – Corona Chief Entertainment Officers - to handle that.

"Normally, we have a super active Employees Club that regularly organises parties, sports activities, lectures, game nights and a lot of other social events at our offices around the world. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has put an effective end to this. This is why we are going to get together in new, cyberspace activities – across time zones and borders. We will use this unfortunate situation to create something new: a global employees club led by our CCEOs. We need to laugh and feel connected as we sit separately while working together towards common goals. That is why we make special efforts to strengthen our culture, cohesion and collaboration skills," says Michael Holm.

Pernille Bræmer-Jensen is one of the new CCEOs and an active member of the Employees Club. She and the other members brainstormed the possibilities and have come up with a plan.

"We enjoy a challenge, and even though it is not quite the same as having physical events in real life, in all modesty, we have come up with some really good ideas and are looking forward to getting these initiatives up and running", she says.

Systematic's new CCEOs are planning a Friday Bar in cyberspace, online lectures, a virtual running club, a live-streamed concert with the company band “Michael Learns to Code”, online workout sessions, quizzes, and recommendations for cultural online experiences. They are also constantly open to new suggestions from colleagues.

"It is super cool that both management and colleagues are actively doing something to strengthen morale and maintain team spirit in these very strange times. We also hope that it will bring us closer together with colleagues in other countries," says Pernille Bræmer-Jensen.

SIMPLIFYING CRITICAL DECISION MAKING

Since our foundation in 1985, we have developed into an international IT company that focuses on five core business areas: Digitalisation, Healthcare, Defence, Intelligence & National Security, and Library & Learning

A common feature of all these sectors is a need to integrate, compare and analyse large volumes of complex data, and to generate an overview that allows decision-making based on a solid foundation, often in critical situations.
Even though our customers are active in many different fields, what we do is actually quite narrowly focused. As we see it, our role is to make complicated things simple, to continue development of the solutions that our customers already know and trust, and do everything a little better - and to constantly challenge existing work processes and technologies.

Everything we do at Systematic is expressed in our four brand values: Simplicity. Trust. Performance. Forward-thinking.
