Bringing Historic Motorsport Engineering into the Digital Age

Nieuwegein, Stockholm

TECHNIA, the leading knowledge provider in Virtual Twin solutions and digital engineering, has announced a collaborative feasibility study with Parabolica Racing and Dassault Systèmes to explore how digital engineering technologies can support the preservation, restoration, and reproduction of historic motorsport components.

Parabolica Racing, founded by former Formula 1 engineer Ernest Knoors, specializes in restoring and racing historic motorsport machinery to the highest standards of authenticity. Maintaining these vehicles often requires reproducing components that are no longer manufactured, using source information that rarely exists in a usable digital format.

The collaboration brings together Parabolica Racing's motorsport expertise, TECHNIA's digital engineering knowledge, and Dassault Systèmes' Virtual Twin technologies to evaluate a modern workflow for converting legacy information into reusable digital models.

The initiative investigates how parametric 3D modeling, digital continuity, and AI-assisted workflows can help transform aging 2D drawings, scanned documents, and physical parts into 3D manufacturing-ready digital assets. The goal is to improve accuracy, repeatability, and the long-term preservation of engineering knowledge that would otherwise be lost. The next phase will focus on validating the workflow using representative production parts before evaluating wider adoption.

"What we are exploring with TECHNIA and Dassault Systèmes is whether a digital workflow can give us the speed and accuracy we need without compromising the originality that defines these cars."

Ernest Knoors, Founder | Parabolica Racing

"Engineering knowledge is one of the most valuable assets any organisation possesses. Through this collaboration, we’re exploring how Virtual Twin technologies, AI, and digital engineering can help preserve that knowledge, making it accessible, reusable, and relevant for future generations. Historic motorsport represents an exciting example of how digital transformation can unlock value far beyond traditional industrial applications."
