“We see AI as a democratising force” –Telavox CEO on the future of UCaaS

Having recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, Telavox’s CEO Viktor Karlsson is proud of what the company has achieved since he co-founded it as a19-year-old. But that doesn’t mean he’s content to stay still. If anything, he’s looking ahead. Here’s what’s next for Telavox and the UCaaS market, according to Viktor.

The future of the UCaaS industry is marked by a string of disruptions. ViktorKarlsson has noticed that the industry is moving towards larger suites embedded in core processes, including communication.

“There is currently a trend where companies focus on minimising the number of vendors and systems that they use. The goal of this is to decrease the number of mobile subscriptions. This creates an opportunity in the market for a single platform provider for multiple countries.”

So what’s Telavox’s ambition in all this? According to Viktor, Telavox aims to become an "Uber for telco" for businesses in multiple countries. What sets Telavox apart from the competition is a focus on being native and mobile-centric from the start, coupled with a strong emphasis on the user experience.

Telavox’s AI roadmap – a democratising force

You can’t talk about the future without mentioning Artificial Intelligence (AI), but when it comes to that, the future is already here.

In April 2023, OpenAI’s ChatGPT averaged about 173 million users, according to NerdyNav. There’s no turning back the clock, and users will expect AI implementation in their tech solutions moving forward. But how does it fit into the Telavox roadmap?

Viktor explains that Telavox is focusing on developing AI-powered products that can analyse customer conversations and provide insights for better decision-making.One of Telavox's goals is to democratise AI by making it affordable and accessible toa broader audience, including small and medium-sized businesses, Viktor says:

"We believe that AI should not be a privilege reserved for a select few but a tool that is accessible to all businesses. Our goal is to make AI easy to use, simple to integrate, and affordable so that businesses of all sizes can leverage its benefits."

He emphasises the importance of democratising AI, stating that their vision is to bring AI to the masses, not just to the big corporations:

"We see AI as a democratising force that can help level the playing field for businesses of all sizes. By making AI affordable and accessible, we can help smaller businesses compete on a more level playing field with larger enterprises."

Preparing for the future

But with so many daunting innovations to keep up with, how does Telavox plan to future-proof its solution?

For Viktor, it’s all about aligning the business model with trends that are shaping the industry. This includes reducing the number of systems and integrating different solutions under one roof.

“Our focus is on the user experience, mobile centricity, and reducing mobile subscriptions. That’s something our users can do with the click of a button, thanks to our licences.”

As part of the previously mentioned trend of consolidating solutions across borders, Telavox differentiates by offering a single platform for multiple countries. They have long been at the forefront of UCaaS and telephony in Scandinavia, enabling customers, including Kicks and Dogman, to operate in numerous Nordic countries using one solution.

In fact, the company is already unique among its Nordic competitors in that it was recently recognised as the only Nordic UCaaS leader in Forrester’s globalLandscape study.

Holding the keys to success

The key to succeeding in today's rapidly-changing business landscape is agility and adaptability, Viktor says.

“Our solution is designed to be flexible and scalable so that our customers can easily adapt to changing requirements.”

The way forward for Telavox is to ensure its products comply with regulations such as GDPR, the EU AI Act, NIST and ISO, which have implications for AI and datamanagement.

In conclusion

Ever since he co-founded Telavox, Viktor Karlsson has been set on reshaping the UCaaS landscape. As they make their mark with a focus on user-centric experiences and AI integrations, Telavox positions themselves as frontrunners in the evolving UCaaS industry.
