Experience creating Kawaguchi's 400-year-old bonsai brand! Why not discover the charm of wabi-sabi and find healing in your daily life?
Tobu Top Tours Co., Ltd.will hold a two-day workshop entitled Learn the Art of Authentic Bonsai at a Renowned Kawaguchi Garden — “Mini Bonsai-Making” Workshop. The workshop will run for a limited two-day period (Saturday, January 24 to Sunday, January 25, 2026) exclusively at the futuristic AZLM TOBU Ikebukuro Store, operated by Tobu Top Tours inside Ikebukuro Station.
Senzaimidori: 400 years of history, a brand of bonsai and potted plants rooted in Kawaguchi in Saitama Prefecture, represents the craftsmanship of artisans who have inherited this history—often described as senzaimidori or "greenery unchanged for a thousand years"—and established it as a trusted Kawaguchi brand. It has earned high acclaim both domestically and internationally.
The workshop is part of the BON-Kei | Stillness and Movement × BONSAI-Art project, selected as one of the Japan Tourism Agency's FY2025 Tourism Area Attractiveness Enhancement Program[A1] [A2] . It aims to make the traditional culture of bonsai more accessible to a wider audience. Under the supervision of the fifth-generation master bonsai at Bonsai Kirakuen, a leading force in the bonsai world, the workshop introduces the appeal of bonsai, accessible even to beginners, and offers healing in daily life. Participants may take their completed bonsai trees home with them to enjoy for years to come.
