Tobu Railway to Introduce its Latest N100 Series of Limited Express Spacia X Trains in July 2023

The New Six-Car Trains will Operate on the Route between Asakusa, Tokyo and Nikko & Kinugawa Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture. They will Now Include Travelers' Choice Seating Options, such as the "Cockpit Suite," Resembling Private Jet Seating, and the "Cockpit Lounge," Featuring a Relaxing Café Counter Depicting Nikko Motifs. Once in Nikko, Travelers Can Continue Beyond the World Heritage Area to Enjoy Outdoor Activities on Lake Chuzenji and throughout the Picturesque Oku-Nikko Region.

Beginning July 15, 2023, Tobu Railway will introduce a new series of Limited Express Spacia X (N100 series) on the route connecting Asakusa in Tokyo to Nikko and Kinugawa Onsen in Tochigi. While maintaining and inheriting the traditions and brand images built up by the Limited Express Spacia (100 Series), Tobu Railway aims to stimulate tourism demand in the Nikko/Kinugawa area on a higher quality flagship limited express train. The new Spacia X (N100) trains will reduce C02 emissions by 40% compared to the current Spacia 100 trains and by using renewable energy sources Tobu has stated that these services will be virtually carbon neutral. The trains will also be fitted with air purifiers boasting advanced sterilization and deodorization functions that will serve as coronavirus countermeasures.

This six-car train offers six seating variations, which can be chosen by travelers themselves, according to their preference. The "Cockpit Suite", located at the front of the train, offers the most luxurious and comfortable seating in the fleet and is designed to resemble a private jet. The "Cockpit Lounge," with its café counter, is a graceful and relaxing space with motifs of the Nikko Kanaya Hotel and the embassy villas in Nikko.
