TOKYO SKYTREE Celebrates Its 10th anniversary! Let's Pay Homage to this Japanese Landmark and World's Tallest Freestanding Broadcast Tower

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, TOKYO SKYTREE and TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN will celebrate their 10th anniversary. In conjunction with this memorable day, special events will be held at TOKYO SKYTREE, the world's tallest freestanding broadcast tower, and TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN from April to June. Let's look back on the 10-year history of TOKYO SKYTREE, as this new symbol of Tokyo and Japan continues to work with the local community to send messages of hope and good fortune to the world.

May 22, 2012　Grand Opening!

Centered around TOKYO SKYTREE, TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN comprises the commercial complex "TOKYO Solamachi," which includes an aquarium, planetarium, office building "TOKYO SKYTREE EAST TOWER," and other facilities opened on this day.

December 6, 2013　10-Million Visitors to SKYTREE!

At 10:07 a.m. on December 26, the 564th day after opening, TOKYO SKYTREE welcomed its 10 millionth visitor. This achievement event was held on the TEMBO DECK, as the 10 millionth customer was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a commemorative gift.

September 17, 2014　100-Million Visitors to TOWN!

On September 17, 849 days after opening, the total number of visitors exceeded 100 million. To commemorate this milestone, the "TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN 100-Millionth Visitor Commemorative Event" distributed memorial post cards to the first 1,000 visitors.

October 24, 2015　TOKYO SKYTREE Turns United Nations' Blue!

On October 24, TOKYO SKYTREE was lit up in a special UN blue color in support of the "Turn the World UN Blue" campaign, which commemorated the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. The campaign aims to raise awareness of global warming with prevention activities.

August 3, 2016　TOKYO SKYTREE is Recognized as one of Japan's "Night View Heritage Sites"!

The night view from TOKYO SKYTREE's observation deck was recognized as a "Night View Heritage of Japan," with a panoramic view of Tokyo and all its landmarks. TOKYO SKYTREE continues to promote the attractiveness of night view tourism both in Japan and abroad.

February 3 - March 17, 2017　TOKYO SKYTREE Becomes a DISCO space, 350 meters above the ground!

"SUPER SKYTREE® DISCO," playing dance music from the 80s and 90s, was opened for a limited time. The world's best night view plus video projection from the SKYTREE ROUND THEATER® created a one-of-a-kind disco space.

October 23, 2018　The SKYTREE TERRACE TOUR Begins!

The newly opened "SKYTREE TERRACE," located outdoors, at a height of 155 meters, launched a tour allowing visitors to view the dynamic steel frame and explore the structure of TOKYO SKYTREE and its LED lighting with a licensed guide.

April 30 - May 1, 2019　Welcoming the New Era!

TOKYO SKYTREE celebrated the next Japanese era – progressing from Heisei to Reiwa, with the new emperor! This was marked by a special lighting display and "laser mapping" on the TEMBO DECK. Commemorative tickets printed with "Arigatou Heisei" and "Omedetou Reiwa " were issued.

From March 27, 2020　TOKYO SKYTREE Launched "TOGETHER WE CAN ALL WIN!"

With the rapid spread of COVID-19, TOKYO SKYTREE sent the message "Let's stand together against COVID-19 and all win together!" This was marked with blue lighting and laser mapping to symbolize the image of the earth from March 27, 2020.

July - September 2021　Japan's Cabinet & JAMSTEC Organized Society 5.0 Expo

Japan's Cabinet Government organized the Society 5.0 Expo jointly with Japan's Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) from July 15 at Tokyo SKYTREE TOWN®. The Expo presented over 200 cutting-edge products and research achievements focused on human-centered society.
