Press release -

Ship recycling takes centre stage in Singapore

TradeWinds' collaboration with principal sponsor Best Oasis / Priya Blue will result in a record attendance at the Ship Recycling Forum 2017. Next Monday 27th February, more than 200 scrapping specialists will gather at the ParkRoyal on Pickering to discuss fundamental changes in the way old vessels are bought, sold and recycled.

Forum director Jon Chaplin is urging Singapore-based owners and their brokers not to miss the chance of making valuable contacts particularly if they have vessels to scrap in the next 12 months.

"Vessel owners will save time and reduce their risk exposure. Investing a few hours to meet the experts will pay off when it comes to selling vessels as is, for option deliveries or on delivered terms" he said. "All the major cash buyers, demo and S&P brokers along with more than 50 ship recyclers - from Turkey, China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Europe and the USA - will be in the room."

"For Singaporeans, the value is even greater," Chaplin noted. "A generous MCF Training Grant is available for eligible Singapore citizens / PRs". (Please refer to www.mpa.gov.sg/mcf for information.)

Prominent cash buyer and Alang recycler Sanjay Mehta, Managing Director of Priya Blue / Best Oasis explained why the event is so popular: “Over the last couple of years, TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum has gained momentum and is now by far the most important event for ship owners and capital providers whose vessels are going for recycling."

He added "The Forum is a powerhouse for growth opportunities for all stakeholders. There is no doubt that the Forum plays the role of catalyst for the industry.”

The Forum is sponsored by Best Oasis / Priya Blue, ClassNK, Al Salam Insurance, IHMA, Lucion Marine and Wilhelmsen Ship Management.
