Trioworld Nyborg Enters Agreement with Better Energy to Purchase Renewable Energy

With a ten-year power purchase agreement, Trioworld Nyborg contributes to the construction of a new Better Energy solar park on the Danish island, Lolland. The agreement is an important element in Trioworld's focus on sustainability, and at the same time it helps to increase the amount of renewable energy on the Danish electricity grid.

The PPA will cover one-third of Trioworld Nyborg's annual electricity consumption, amounting to 7.5 GWh per year.

A step closer to sustainable manufacturing

Trioworld Nyborg is a part of Trioworld's Industrial Film division. The division manufactures plastic packaging for industrial companies in sectors such as petrochemicals, construction, horticulture, forestry and more. In addition to producing packaging films, Trioworld Nyborg also has facilities for plastic recycling, providing the company with a stable source of valuable raw materials that are crucial to its overall strategy: leading the way in circular plastic solutions.

By signing a PPA with Better Energy, a large portion of Trioworld Nyborg’s annual energy consumption will be covered by renewable energy. Its ambition to reduce emissions from its manufacturing operations in Denmark helps Trioworld move closer to fulfilling its commitment to become net zero in 2050.

"Trioworld Nyborg is an important part of our Industrial Film division, allowing us to provide plastic solutions with recycled materials to customers across sectors," says Carsten Valentin, President of the Industrial Film division at Trioworld. "Therefore, it's a milestone that a significant portion of the electricity Trioworld Nyborg purchases is green, thanks to the PPA with Better Energy."

Additional green energy for the Danish grid

Trioworld Nyborg, along with several other companies across various sectors, has contributed to a new 55 hectare solar park located near Hoby in Lolland Municipality. The solar park is now grid-connected and annually generates 70 GWh of green energy – corresponding to the electricity consumption of approximately 43,000 Danes.

“We’re very proud to welcome Trioworld Nyborg as a Better Energy partner whose commitment will help deliver a substantial amount of additional green energy,” says Mikkel Thorup, Director of PPAs at Better Energy. “We continue to see organisations with large manufacturing operations partnering with Better Energy through PPAs to cover a large part of their energy consumption with additional green energy. This choice has a direct impact on the amount of new renewable energy in the Danish electricity grid.”
