Celebrate Trollbeads Day with China

Trollbeads Day is a day celebrated in jewellery stores all over the world. A day where people celebrate and share their stories and their affection to Trollbeads.

Trollbeads started life in 1976 in a small jeweller’s store in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is the original beads-on-bracelet brand. Since then, the Trollbeads collection has grown to include a wide range of jewellery. Then as now, each Trollbeads piece is designed to tell stories and provide new forms of personal discrete luxury.

On June 15, Trollbeads Day is celebrated in jewellery stores all over the world – and with this comes a limited edition made in hand painted porcelain.

Wonderfully new

This year’s limited edition is totally new in material and technique in the collection. The Brush of Blue Kit is hand painted porcelain. These are outstanding beads, handcrafted and painted individually in stunning cobalt blue patterns.

In English, porcelain is also called china. The art of painting on porcelain was originated in China, where the genuine, hard white porcelain was invented. The china is made of paste and consists mainly of kaolin. China is hard, compact and fine-grained, and it cannot be scratched by a knife. When hit, it resonates with a clear, musical note.

High complexity

It is complex to make the beads. The beads are made in fluid porcelain and hereafter they are burned. When they have cooled down, they are glazed for the first time. After glazing, the beads are painted by hand in the stunning patterns. Then the beads are then glazed and burned again. Finally, they are it is mounted with the Sterling silver core.

There are 6 different hand painted designs. From left to right: Bamboo Brush, Chrysanthemum Brush, Fish Brush, Lotus Brush, Plum Tree Brush and Vine Brush.

Trollbeads is the original, high quality bead-on-bracelet brand with hundreds of beautiful beads to pick and choose from – each a little work of art - so that every bracelet becomes entirely personal.

Exquisite craftsmanship

The limited edition Brush of Blue Kit is made in a design corporation between Danish goldsmith, jewellery artist and designer Kim Buck and Chinese Zhang Qiao. Kim Buck is an excellent example of a modern artisan who knows his craft right down to his fingertips. Kim Buck has participated in many international exhibitions and has won numerous awards. Zhang Qiao has a master in art from the Art Institute in Jingdezhen, an international art center located in China. Zhang Qiao made her master’s thesis in underglazed porcelain and its way up through history.

Trollbeads jewellery is made from the highest quality raw materials, including 18 karat gold, Sterling silver, Italian Murano glass, freshwater pearls, amber and precious gemstones – and now also hand painted porcelain.

The exquisite craftsmanship of Trollbeads’ jewellery is only truly complete when you match the different beads that tell your stories in your own personal way. This is the true beauty of Trollbeads.

The Trollbeads Day collection can be mixed and matched with existing and new jewellery - any way you like. The collection is available in stores and online from Trollbeads Day, June 15, 2019.
