AIM 6: A Smarter, More Intuitive Approach to IP KVM Management | ADDERTalks
Adder has introduced AIM 6, the latest iteration of AIM, Adder’s IP KVM matrix management software. As discussed in the latest episode of the ADDERTalks podcast, this release brings a refreshed approach to how users interact with their systems, with a strong focus on usability, accessibility and day-to-day efficiency.
At its core, AIM is the software that gives administrators control over their IP KVM environment, managing users, devices and connections across the network. The ADDERLink INFINITY Manager is the hardware platform that powers it, acting as the central hub of the system.
A User-led Redesign
One of the biggest themes we cover is that AIM 6 has been shaped by real user feedback. Building on our existing understanding of how teams use AIM in live environments, this release reflects a deeper appreciation of user workflows and a more considered evolution of the system.’
The result is a cleaner, more intuitive experience that helps users get to what they need more quickly. The redesigned dashboard plays a key role here, giving administrators an immediate view of system status, including which devices are in use, which are available and whether anything needs attention.
In fast-moving, 24/7 environments, that ability to understand what is happening at a glance can make a real difference.
Improved visibility and system insight
AIM 6 also makes it easier to monitor system performance. As highlighted in the podcast, administrators can quickly check the health of servers, including primary and backup systems, all from a single view. This is especially helpful for maintenance engineers, IT managers and administrators who oversee all the systems and need assurance that they’re running as expected.
Event and action logs are readily accessible, making it straightforward to track activity and respond to any issues. When something does require attention, it is easy to identify what has happened and take action without unnecessary steps.
The platform also integrates smoothly into wider IT environments, with support for tools such as Syslog and SNMP, helping teams manage everything within a broader monitoring setup.
Designed for Accessibility
Accessibility is a key part of the AIM 6 experience. The interface has been designed in line with modern accessibility standards, with a focus on clarity, readability and ease of use.
Users can switch between light and dark modes depending on their working environment, whether that is a brightly lit office or a darker control room. Visual cues have also been improved, with color used more deliberately to highlight system status and guide attention where it is needed.
These changes not only make the system more inclusive but also help all users work more comfortably and efficiently over long periods of time.
A More Intuitive Experience
For IT administrators, AIM 6 is all about making system management feel more straightforward. Information is organized more logically, allowing users to move between tasks with less effort.
Whether managing users, devices or configurations, the interface supports a more natural workflow. This means less time spent navigating menus and more time focusing on keeping systems running smoothly.
Enhanced Day-to-day Control
AIM supports users working at the desk; after logging in, users are presented with the systems they are authorized to access, making it easy to switch between sources as needed.
Different viewing modes provide flexibility depending on the task. Users can view, share, collaborate or work privately, depending on the situation.
With AIM 6, these interactions feel more streamlined. Navigation is clearer, visual feedback has improved and familiar features like favorites and hotkeys remain in place to support fast, efficient workflows.
Switching between systems is near-instant, typically taking less than a second, which is essential in environments where speed matters
Built for Scale and Integration
AIM continues to support deployments of all sizes, from smaller setups to large-scale environments with thousands of endpoints across multiple networks.
Built on standard IT protocols, AIM integrates with third-party systems through its open API, as well as LDAP, SNMP and Syslog. This ensures it works as part of a wider ecosystem, rather than operating in isolation.
