Add kerb appeal with a fresh coat of paint

A fresh coat of paint could increase a home’s perceived value by nearly a quarter, according to research by Dulux Weathershield.

Almost a third of Brits expect to pay 25% more for a freshly painted home, so it’s worth a little effort even if it’s just to impress the neighbours. What is more, research reveals it takes an average of just 10 seconds for a person to make a judgement on someone after seeing the colour of their front door.

Despite the big difference painting the exterior can make, most Brits haven’t refreshed the exterior of their house in more than eight years, while one in five admit it’s been more than 15 years.

When it comes to so-called ‘kerb appeal’, the research suggests we should pay more attention to making a good impression. A massive 93% of Brits are more likely to attend a viewing if the exterior of the house is well maintained. And with 2.6 million Brits admitting they post photos of house exteriors to social media at least once a month, an Instagrammable facade is more important than ever.

Poorly maintained gardens and dirty windows are among our top bugbears, but what irritates us the most is a drab front door. Painting the exterior of your home with Dulux Weathershield will instantly improve its appearance, and confident it will never flake, peel or mould, Dulux are offering our new Weathershield Promise on qualifying products, which guarantees to protect your home for as long as you live in it.

Weathershield’s advanced formula resists peeling, flaking and staining caused by mould and, in the unlikely event you do suffer any of these issues while you’re still living in your home, Dulux will return the value of a replacement product. To do is register your purchase on the Dulux portal.
